Richard Vardy
Richard Vardy worked for Investec plc, which is an international, specialist-banking group that provides a diverse range of financial products and services to a select client base. Up to April 2007, he was Company Secretary to the main holding Company; Investec plc and Investec Bank (UK) Ltd. He then headed up the Corporate Responsibility function within the company.
In his early career Richard held positions at Union plc (previously Union Discount Company of London Ltd), one of the leading Discount houses operating in the London Money Markets. He held trading and settlement positions during this time and in 1985 was appointed Company Secretary of Union plc.
Between 1985 and 1996 he was Hon Secretary to the London Discount Market Association (LDMA). When the operations of the Money Market changed significantly in 1997 Richard helped form the London Money Market Association (LMMA), where he acted as Secretary and later became Deputy Chairman, which he remains today. Richard holds memberships with a number of bodies that include the Chartered Institute of bankers and the Chartered Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (FCIS).
